PROTECTION

Regarded as a symbol for safe passage over water, the makau, or fishhook, brings good fortune and strength to those who wear it, this is why we include this powerful symbol on our clothing. The makau has held deep cultural significance in Hawai’i and throughout the Polynesian Triangle for over a millennium. Traditionally carved from bone, wood, stone and coral, the makau signifies a deep respect and love towards the oceans.

Our aim is to incorporate these beliefs into Nauti Nomad, promoting the beauty, fragility and magic of our oceans and protecting our natural planet, we encourage you to play your part in keeping our oceans clean, wildlife safe, and humans happy.

    For as long as I can remember, I've been driven by a passion for telling stories through the lens of a camera. With over 15 years of experience in travel photography, videography, drone operation, and freediving, I've been incredibly fortunate to capture the beauty of our world and share it with others.   • I’ve always had a fascination, ok obsession with the ocean. From a very early age I remember how it dominated every part of our childhood holidays. Camping along the rugged Cornish coastline,and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing. Playing on the beach all day, swimming in the sea and being fascinated by the creatures in the rock pools. Then I’d fall asleep to the soothing roar of the waves once again. Yeah…I’d say it was an obsession.

    As I’ve grown older I’ve surrounded myself by water, be it through swimming, surfing, kayaking (along with trying my hand at most water sports) and more recently through beach cleaning and some huge open water swims.

    When you love something, you protect it, and every part of me is in love with the ocean. The damage we are doing is too painful to sit back and watch so I’m redirecting the sadness and pain into drive and passion to make a difference.

    Having met Jon, out in Grand Cayman and seeing how passionate he is about better protecting this beautiful, fragile planet, it’s an honour to be playing a part in the Nauti journey. Inspiring others wherever we go.

    I was raised in this slice of paradise in the Caribbean known as the Cayman Islands. Growing up on an Island resulted in a very early love for the ocean and environmentalism which was largely because of my mom. My mom works for a National Trust, which is a nature conservancy, and growing up with a mother like that was incredible as she taught me how to be environmentally conscious! However, she also signed me up for every sport on the Island from rollerblading to horseback riding and I never stuck with any of them. One day though, and after a lot of convincing on her part, she signed me up for surfing and I never looked back.

    Being introduced to surfing was honestly one of the best things to happen to me as it provided me an escape, peace of mind, and overall fun and healthy experience. Freediving though changed everything! Not only did it provide me with the same things surfing still does but it also introduced me to the sexiest of human beans, Jon Schutte!

    Jon introduced me to caves I did not think were even remotely possible to fit through but also here, our brand, Nauti Nomad! Once he explained what the brand stands for I fell in love instantly and from there joined the first Nauti trip to the Maldives! Then Jon and I traveled to Hawaii for fun but also as a scouting mission for a future Nauti trip in November ‘23 (make sure to sign up)! This brand encompasses a mindset of “leaving everywhere you go nicer than when you found it” which is supported by people that want nothing but the absolute best for you! This brand is everything that I was taught to stand for and that is why Nauti Nomad is such a perfect fit for me, and for you as well!
